Over 44 years of establishment and development, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) has continuously expanded its scale, enhanced the quality of education and training, promoted scientific research, and strengthened connections with businesses and the community. The figures from the 2025–2026 academic year provide a clear snapshot of HUIT's development at the age of 44.
From its beginnings in 1982, HUIT has grown into a multidisciplinary university with tens of thousands of learners. As of June 10, 2026, the University had 37,214 undergraduate students, 762 master's students, and 105 doctoral students. HUIT currently offers 37 undergraduate programs, 14 master's programs, and 9 doctoral programs. HUIT's strong appeal during the 2026 admissions season was further demonstrated by 180,469 applications, 9,526 admitted candidates, and 8,583 enrolled students. In addition, international joint programs with Thailand, China, and Taiwan welcomed nearly 900 students during this year's admissions season, bringing the total number of students enrolled in international joint programs at HUIT to nearly 1,700. Notably, the admission scores of students entering international joint programs this year were higher, with a clear improvement in the quality of incoming students compared with the previous year. Admissions counseling activities were conducted at nearly 700 high schools, expanding HUIT's outreach and bringing admissions information to students across the country.
Alongside its expansion in scale, HUIT places particular emphasis on developing a highly qualified academic staff. Currently, approximately 60% of the University's lecturers hold doctoral degrees or academic titles of Associate Professor and Professor, providing an important foundation for enhancing training quality, developing postgraduate programs, and promoting scientific research. Looking toward 2030, HUIT aims to increase the proportion of lecturers holding doctoral degrees and the academic titles of Associate Professor and Professor to 80%, thereby further strengthening its academic capacity, improving the quality of human resources, and meeting the development requirements of a university in the new era.
Scientific research continues to be one of HUIT's strengths. During the 2025–2026 academic year, HUIT implemented 257 university-level scientific research projects, including 181 projects conducted by students, master's students, and doctoral candidates. At the same time, the University managed 16 ministerial-, provincial-level, and international cooperation research projects and initiatives, with total funding exceeding VND 10 billion. The University also recorded 239 award-winning scientific articles, including 144 articles indexed in ISI/Scopus.

Business engagement has also created more opportunities for students. HUIT connected with more than 70 major enterprises, providing over 18,500 employment opportunities. In particular, HUIT Talent Day 2025 featured more than 6,000 recruitment positions and over 1,000 internship opportunities in the fields of information technology and economics.

In addition to education and research, HUIT continues to devote significant resources to supporting learners. During the academic year, the total budget allocated to scholarships and student support reached VND 55.73 billion. Community service activities attracted 22,844 student participants across 235 social service activities, spreading the spirit of responsibility and solidarity among HUIT students.
After 44 years, each figure represents a milestone in HUIT's development journey. From the scale of its student body and academic staff to scientific research, business engagement, and community activities, these achievements have become a solid foundation for HUIT to enter a new stage of development with the goal of becoming stronger, more modern, and more deeply integrated internationally.
