On June 6, 2026, the Launch Ceremony of the Food Innovation and Development 2026 Competition (FID 2026) will officially take place online. The event marks the return of the competition for its third season and serves as a milestone for one of the largest and most prestigious innovation platforms for young people in the agriculture and food sectors.
A Three-Year Journey of Establishing Reputation and Strong Appeal
Since its launch in 2024, Food Innovation and Development (FID) has, through two successful seasons, gradually established itself as a solid platform for fostering innovation among Vietnamese and international students. The competition serves as a strategic bridge connecting universities, businesses, and the innovation ecosystem to transform highly applicable projects into reality.
The achievements of previous seasons clearly demonstrate the competition’s growing influence:
- First season (FID 2024): Attracted nearly 400 students with 122 projects from 24 universities.
- Second season (FID 2025): Expanded significantly, with more than 500 students participating and presenting 144 projects from 58 universities and high schools nationwide.
For students majoring in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Post-Harvest Technology, and related fields, FID has become one of the most prominent forums combining academic learning with practical application. Participants not only compete but also develop innovative thinking to address real-world industry challenges with a focus on application and commercialization.
FID 2026: Elevating International Reach and Creating a Green Future
Entering its third season, with the aspiration of positioning Vietnam as a strategic agriculture and food destination in Asia, FID 2026 is being developed as an international-scale competition. This year’s event is jointly organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), the Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology (VAFoST), the National Startup Support Center (NSSC), and the BambuUP innovation connection platform.
Under the theme “Connecting the Strength of a Sustainable Food Value Chain,” FID 2026 focuses on key areas including food technology, biotechnology, agricultural science, sustainable development, and innovative entrepreneurship.
A major highlight of FID 2026: is its orientation toward expanding multi-stakeholder collaboration among universities, research institutes, businesses, investment funds, and innovation support organizations both domestically and internationally. This network aims to create a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing, technology transfer, human resource development, and long-term value creation for the industry.
The competition also continues to emphasize raising awareness of pressing global issues such as food security, green agriculture, sustainable development, and climate change adaptation—factors that increasingly shape the future of the food industry in an era of global integration.
