SUMMARY TABLE OF THE PROPOSAL FOR OPENING A NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAM

CHEMICAL ENGINEERING – DOCTORAL LEVEL

I.       ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES, AND TRAINING CURRICULUM OUTLINE

1. Entry requirements

General requirements for applicants

a) Applicants must have obtained a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with a classification of Good or higher in a relevant discipline; or have obtained an equivalent qualification at Level 7 of the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework in certain specialized fields relevant to the doctoral training program.

b) Applicants must meet the entry requirements of the doctoral training program for which they apply.

c) Applicants must have research experience demonstrated through a master’s thesis from a research-oriented training program; or through published articles or scientific reports; or have at least 02 years, equivalent to 24 months, of work experience as a lecturer or researcher at training institutions or science and technology organizations.

d) Applicants must have a draft research proposal and an expected study and research plan for the entire course.

e) Applicants must have a recommendation letter evaluating their professional qualities, professional competence, and research capacity from at least one scientist holding the title of professor or associate professor, or holding a doctor of science or doctoral degree in a relevant professional field and having expertise in the field in which the applicant intends to conduct research.

Vietnamese applicants

Vietnamese applicants must meet foreign language proficiency requirements, demonstrated by one of the following degrees or certificates:

a) A bachelor’s degree or higher awarded by a foreign training institution, a branch campus of a foreign training institution in Vietnam, or a Vietnamese training institution for a full-time program delivered in a foreign language.

b) A bachelor’s degree in a foreign language major awarded by a Vietnamese training institution.

c) One of the foreign language certificates specified in Appendix II of the Postgraduate Training Regulations, valid by the application date; or other equivalent foreign language certificates at Level 4 according to the six-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam as announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Foreign applicants

Foreign applicants who apply for doctoral programs delivered in Vietnamese must have a Vietnamese language certificate of at least Level 4 according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for foreigners and must meet the second foreign language requirement as decided by the Rector, except in cases where the applicant is a native speaker of the language used in the doctoral training program.

Applicants must also meet requirements regarding appropriate professional qualifications, foreign language competence, work experience, and other requirements depending on the characteristics of each field, discipline, and specific training program of the University, based on the minimum requirements stated above.

2. Program learning outcomes

Upon completion of the program, learners will acquire knowledge, skills, and professional practice competence in Chemical Engineering as follows:

2.1. Knowledge

  • Synthesize knowledge of scientific research organization and new technology development in the field of Chemical Engineering.
  • Synthesize core, foundational, advanced, and specialized knowledge in Chemical Engineering.

2.2. Skills and personal qualities

  • Combine skills in mastering scientific theories, methods, and tools serving research and development.
  • Establish technical diagrams and processes, and process data in the field of Chemical Engineering.
  • Combine appropriate techniques, methods, and engineering tools to solve problems in independent projects.
  • Develop integrity, respect for research ethics, and respect for intellectual property in research results and publications.

2.3. Interaction skills

Develop skills to present scientific issues and research results in the specialized field.

2.4. Professional practice competence and autonomy

Evaluate specialized and interdisciplinary knowledge to manage, operate, conduct research, create, or develop new knowledge in the field of Chemical Engineering.
