The 44-year journey of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) has been shaped by countless stories. They are the stories of those who laid the foundation, lecturers who devoted their careers to the classroom, alumni who grew and developed from the HUIT community, students who are making their mark today, and freshmen who have just begun their own journeys. Each generation has traveled a different path, yet all have contributed to shaping “HUIT 44 Years – A Journey to New Heights”.
The history of a university can be recorded through milestones, name changes, and figures reflecting its development over different periods. Yet behind every milestone are people – those who have studied, taught, contributed, and worked together to shape HUIT as it is today.
Over the past 44 years, previous generations have laid the foundation, today's generation continues to build upon it, and new generations entering HUIT carry with them hopes and aspirations for the future. It is this continuity that has created a resilient journey from 1982 to the present.
For Meritorious Teacher, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, 44 years represent a foundation for HUIT to enter a new stage of development.
He shared: “The 44-year journey has been nurtured by many generations and serves as the foundation for HUIT's position today. The responsibility of succeeding generations is to continue innovating, improve the quality of education and training, promote scientific research, and strengthen international integration. Building on this foundation, HUIT will continue to reach new heights, contributing human resources, knowledge, and practical values to the development of the country. HUIT will become a smart university and grow even stronger”.

Looking back on this journey, for staff and lecturers who have been with HUIT for decades, the University is also remembered through familiar memories: an old classroom, a laboratory, the first generations of students, and the years when lecturers and students worked together to overcome difficulties and build the University.
Mr. Vo Duy An, Master, Director of the Dormitory Center and a staff member who has been with HUIT for more than 30 years, shared: “After 30 years with HUIT, I have traveled through almost an entire career alongside the University. Some changes can be seen in new buildings, new generations of students, and new stages of development; yet there are also values that can only be felt over time – dedication, a sense of responsibility, and the trust that many generations have worked together to preserve. To me, HUIT is no longer simply a workplace, but a part of my memories, a part of my youth, and a part of my life. Seeing the University continue to move forward today, what makes me most proud is knowing that I have had the opportunity to accompany HUIT and contribute, in my own small way, to this journey”.

Mr. Tran Van Tho from the Faculty of Information Technology, one of the lecturers who has been with HUIT for many years, shared: “After more than 15 years with HUIT, I have been fortunate to witness and accompany the University through many changes – from the days when facilities were still limited to the increasingly spacious and modern HUIT of today. I am grateful that throughout this journey, the University has always cared about the well-being of its lecturers, created opportunities for us to pursue further education and improve our qualifications, and fostered a supportive and connected working environment. What I am most proud of is that HUIT has not only grown in scale but has also maintained its dedication to learners, sense of responsibility, and aspiration to move forward. On the occasion of the University's 44th anniversary, I value even more the years I have spent working, contributing, and growing under the HUIT roof. I am proud to be a HUIT lecturer, grateful to have been part of this journey, and committed to continuing to contribute to the road ahead”.

If 15 years are enough to witness many transformations, then for those who have devoted nearly an entire career to HUIT, every change at the University is also connected to milestones in their own lives.
Over more than four decades, many things have changed, but dedication to learners, responsibility toward the profession, and the aspiration for development have continued to be passed from one generation to the next.
From HUIT, generations of alumni have entered the workforce, built their careers, and contributed across various fields. For Mr. Nguyen Tai of Thanh Thanh Cong Logistics Services Joint Stock Company, HUIT holds a special place in his life, as he completed his undergraduate studies there and later returned to pursue a master's degree. He shared: “For me, HUIT is a place that preserves a beautiful part of my youth and also laid the foundation for my professional journey. From my undergraduate years to returning later for a master's program, I have always witnessed the University's changes and development through different stages. HUIT gave me knowledge, ways of thinking, confidence, and a spirit of continuous learning. I hope today's students will make the most of their time at HUIT, actively seek experiences, dare to challenge themselves, and create a journey that they can look back on with pride”.

If previous generations built the foundation and carried the HUIT identity into society, today's students are directly creating the University's vibrant present. Trần Hồ Nhật Vy, a student majoring in Economic Law, Class 15DHKTL04, shared: “HUIT has given me many opportunities to learn, gain experience, and challenge myself through research, academic, and community activities. With each experience, I have become more mature, more confident, and more aware of my responsibility to the collective. I hope to continue making efforts, spreading positive values, and contributing in my own small way to the image of HUIT students as dynamic, creative, and responsible members of the community”.

And when one generation matures, a new generation begins. In 2026, freshmen passed through the gates of HUIT, beginning to write the first pages of their university journeys. Freshman Nguyễn Trương Thảo Nghi, a student majoring in Accounting, Class 26DHKT08, shared: “Entering HUIT marks a turning point, signifying that I am officially beginning to walk independently on the path I have chosen. I hope the coming university years will be the brightest period of my youth: learning wholeheartedly, building sincere friendships, and establishing a strong foundation for the future. I hope that when I leave HUIT, I will be proud of a youth well lived, without regrets”.
