On May 17, in Trung My Tay Ward, a public meeting was held to announce the investment project to build Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and the project resettlement area in Trung My Tay Ward. The program was organized to provide information about the project, announce compensation and site clearance work, and present the resettlement plan for households affected by the project.

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Trung My Tay Ward, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, along with officials, lecturers, and a large number of local households affected by the project.

Delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Phan Cuong, Director of the Project Management Board of Trung My Tay Ward, emphasized: “The project to build the new campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade covers an area of approximately 26.7 hectares and is a key educational project with a very large investment scale. It is in line with the orientation for urban and educational planning and development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new phase. In particular, the project holds great significance for Trung My Tay Ward.”

Also at the program, Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University, affirmed: “When investing in the project here, the University will invest in the most systematic and effective manner, providing the best services and bringing the greatest benefits to students and 1,000 officials and lecturers of the University. At the same time, the implementation of the project also demonstrates the determination to resolve and put an end to the long-standing suspended project, contributing to the effective use of land resources, creating a new appearance for the area, and promoting local socio-economic development in the coming time.”

Within the framework of the program, representatives of the Project Management Board presented an overview of the project’s information, scale, and importance. The contents were shared in detail, emphasizing the careful preparation and long-term orientation of the University’s project plan.

According to the report, this is a Group A project, implemented on a total area of 25.97 hectares. Of this, the university campus accounts for 197,484 square meters, including learning areas, administrative areas, sports facilities, dormitories, and service areas. The resettlement area covers 40,706 square meters, while other land accounts for 21,470 square meters.

The process will be carried out in accordance with the prescribed procedures, beginning with investigation, survey, and measurement of the current land status to ensure an accurate and appropriate basis for determining compensation levels in compliance with State regulations. At the same time, land recovery notices will be sent to each affected household, along with the collection of residents’ opinions on compensation, support, and resettlement plans, thereby ensuring publicity, transparency, and consensus throughout the implementation process.

A highlight of the program was the lively dialogue and survey of residents’ opinions on land recovery and resettlement support in the ward. Questions and concerns raised by local residents were answered specifically by the Project Management Board to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of affected households. Most residents expressed their support and hope that this key project would soon be implemented and completed on schedule, thereby opening up a new stage of economic and local development for Trung My Tay Ward.

The project aims to build modern facilities to meet the educational needs of more than 37,000 students in the future, thereby contributing to improving the quality of human resources for the city and neighboring areas. Beyond that, the project is also expected to create more job opportunities for local residents and promote local economic and service activities.

At the conclusion of the program, representatives of the Project Management Board affirmed that all opinions would be fully collected to further improve the project. They also committed to maintaining dialogue with residents in the next phases. The meeting concluded in a serious atmosphere, demonstrating efforts to build consensus among the authorities, the investor, and the local community.
