Delegates attending the program
The Student Scientific Research Contest is one of the key academic activities maintained annually by the University to promote the spirit of research, creativity, and innovation among students. It is not only an intellectual playground for students to develop their scientific research capacity, critical thinking, and ability to apply professional knowledge to practice, but also contributes to forming high-quality human resources to meet development requirements in the context of digital transformation and international integration.
Attending the program were Mr. Hoang Son Giang, Head of the Department of Scientific Management and Project Development under the Center for Science and Technology Development for Youth, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City; and, on behalf of the University, Dr. Phan Xuan Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee; Dr. Thai Doan Thanh, Party Committee Member and Vice Rector of the University; along with members of the Scientific Council, leaders of units, supervising lecturers, and a large number of students participating in the contest.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, the contest recorded strong participation from training faculties, with 250 registered projects by 878 students from 13 specialized faculties. The projects covered a wide range of fields, including engineering sciences, food technology, chemistry, biology, environment, economics, and social sciences. After a rigorous selection process from the preliminary round and faculty-level final round, the 90 most outstanding projects officially advanced to the University-level Final Round.
A new feature of this year’s contest was the organization of the University-level round in two phases in order to improve the quality of evaluation and select outstanding works with high applicability and creativity. At the Final Round, the author groups presented their research posters before the Scientific Council, which consisted of experts and lecturers with extensive professional experience. The competition took place in an exciting atmosphere, with many practical research topics demonstrating a serious academic spirit, independent research capacity, and the aspiration of HUIT students to contribute.
The Organizing Committee introduced and expressed gratitude to the Scientific Council — the experts and lecturers who accompanied, evaluated, and provided professional support for this year’s contest
Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee also introduced and expressed gratitude to the Scientific Council — the experts and lecturers who accompanied, evaluated, and provided professional support for this year’s contest. The participation of the Council not only helped ensure objectivity and academic quality, but also provided further motivation for student groups on their scientific research journey.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Thai Doan Thanh, Vice Rector of the University, emphasized: “In recent years, the University has always identified students’ science, technology, and innovation activities as one of its key tasks. This has been clearly demonstrated through the increase in both the number and quality of research projects, as well as the outstanding achievements of students in prestigious academic arenas such as the Science and Technology Award for Students in Higher Education Institutions and the Euréka Student Scientific Research Award, which have brought home many proud accomplishments.”
At the end of the program, the Organizing Committee awarded First, Second, Third, and Consolation Prizes, along with additional awards such as “Most-Voted Video” and “Most-Favored Scientific Poster” to outstanding author groups. The honored works not only recognized students’ efforts in learning and research, but also reflected the University’s training quality and orientation toward scientific research development in the new phase.
The Student Scientific Research Contest for the 2025–2026 academic year continued to affirm the role of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade in building a higher education environment associated with research, innovation, and the comprehensive development of learners. At the same time, it also served as an important stepping stone for students to confidently participate in higher-level academic arenas and contribute creative ideas and solutions to the community and society.
