On the afternoon of October 17, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), in collaboration with the Center for Education Accreditation under Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), solemnly held the closing ceremony of the official external review for the second-cycle accreditation of six undergraduate academic programs at the University. The programs under review included Environmental Engineering Technology, Biotechnology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Business Administration, and Accounting.
Overview of the Closing Ceremony of the Official External Review for the Quality Assessment of Six Undergraduate Academic Programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade
Attending the ceremony on behalf of the Center for Education Accreditation – VNU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien, Director of the Center, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan, Chairman of the Accreditation Council and Deputy Director of the Center.
Representing the external review panel were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Head of the External Review Panel; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Secretary of the Panel; together with other members of the panel.
Representing Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade at the ceremony were Meritorious Teacher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hong Anh, Member of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, M.A., Acting Deputy Head of the Training Office; Mr. Le Ngoc, M.A., Director of the Quality Assurance Center; along with leaders, lecturers, and students from the five faculties whose programs were evaluated.
After four days of serious, transparent, objective, and effective work, the external review panel recorded many positive outcomes in the process of surveying and assessing the academic programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.
According to the panel, the reviewed programs demonstrated a number of notable strengths. Their objectives and expected learning outcomes are clearly defined, aligned with the goals of higher education and the University’s mission, periodically reviewed, application-oriented, internationally integrated, and publicly announced. The curricula meet the requirements of the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework, are designed with an application-oriented approach, and place strong emphasis on practice. Teaching and learning activities are diverse, and scientific research outcomes have been effectively applied to improve both teaching and learning. Regulations, procedures, and assessment criteria have been established and guided in accordance with Outcome-Based Education (OBE); the re-evaluation process is accessible; and the University has initially implemented the measurement of course and program learning outcomes. In addition, the University has shown strengths in staff planning, recruitment, training and development of human resources, investment in facilities, and achievements in scientific research among both lecturers and students.
On behalf of the external review panel, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duy Cam presented the preliminary report on the official review results of the six academic programs at HUIT. Their presentation provided an overview of the panel’s working process, evaluation principles, and assessment methods, while also highlighting the programs’ strengths and offering recommendations for improvement to further enhance the University’s training quality.
Alongside these recognitions, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Head of the External Review Panel, also proposed several recommendations aimed at strengthening scientific research and innovation activities in the evaluated programs. These recommendations are intended to promote the University’s distinctive characteristics and core strengths, while encouraging greater student participation in scientific research topics and projects. The panel also acknowledged the efforts of HUIT’s lecturers in conducting and publishing valuable scientific research papers, thereby affirming the University’s research capacity, disseminating knowledge, and enhancing its academic reputation. These orientations and recommendations are considered important driving forces for the University to further develop its scientific research activities, connect training more closely with practice, and strengthen its unique identity within Vietnam’s higher education system.
At the closing session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Phuoc, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, speaking on behalf of the faculties whose academic programs were reviewed, expressed sincere appreciation and a constructive spirit toward the comments and recommendations of the external review panel. The Faculty of Finance and Accounting, together with the other faculties involved in this review, committed to seriously implementing the panel’s recommendations, continuously improving training quality, promoting their strengths, and overcoming limitations in order to identify optimal solutions and further enhance the prestige and reputation of both the University and its training units in society.
In her speech at the closing ceremony, Meritorious Teacher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hong Anh, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Head of the External Review Panel, and the panel members for their dedication, fairness, and professionalism throughout the accreditation process and for supporting the University during both the self-assessment and official review stages. She emphasized that the panel’s comments and recommendations are of practical significance, helping the University further promote its strengths, address its limitations, improve quality, and reinforce its prestige and reputation in this period of development and innovation.

She highly appreciated the effective coordination and cooperative spirit demonstrated by the staff and lecturers of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade throughout the review process, affirming that the University’s proactive and constructive collaboration was one of the key factors contributing to the success of the official review and quality accreditation activities in general.
This official review was not merely a routine accreditation activity, but also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade to conduct a comprehensive and objective reflection on the achievements it has attained in recent years. Based on this, the University will be able to determine strategic development directions for the coming period, continue consolidating a strong educational foundation, standardize its operations according to national and international benchmarks, and move toward sustainable development and deeper integration.
At the end of the ceremony, the external review panel, the Center for Education Accreditation – VNU, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade signed the official minutes confirming the completion of the external review process for the University’s academic programs.
This official survey was not merely a routine quality accreditation activity, but also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade to conduct a comprehensive and objective review of the achievements it has attained in recent years. On that basis, the University is well positioned to define its strategic development directions for the coming period, continue strengthening its solid educational foundation, standardize its operations in accordance with national and international standards, and move toward sustainable development and deeper integration.
