On the afternoon of April 4, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) held a working session with Nanjing Normal University (NJNU, China) to discuss cooperation opportunities in the fields of training and scientific research.

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan – President of HUIT, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Tan Hiep – Head of the International Cooperation Department. Representing Nanjing Normal University were Prof. Wang Daping – Vice Dean of the International School for Chinese Language Studies, and Prof. Li Xianzhuo – Lecturer at the International School for Chinese Language Studies.

During the session, both parties discussed in detail the first joint educational project between the two universities, aiming to implement joint training programs for Bachelor's and Master's degrees. The proposed cooperation models include:

  • "2+2" Model: Students study the first two years at their home university and the last two years at the partner university.

  • "3+1" Model: Three years at the home university and the final year at the partner university.

The two sides also exchanged views on admission requirements for international students, including Chinese language proficiency requirements through HSK certificates, and proposed organizing exams or interviews to evaluate the language competence of candidates.

Furthermore, the discussion touched upon the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) to serve as a legal basis for credit recognition, creating favorable conditions for students to participate in joint programs. Issues related to the curriculum, tuition fees, and tuition-sharing mechanisms between the two schools were also specifically discussed to ensure transparency and harmony of interests for all parties.

The working session opened up potential directions for cooperation, contributing to improving training quality and expanding international learning opportunities for HUIT students. This is an important step in the university's educational internationalization strategy, helping students broaden their study opportunities, cultivate professional and language skills, and prepare a solid foundation for their careers in a global environment.
