The year 2020 of the COVID-19 pandemic affection has ended with the directions from the Management Board and the efforts of all the HUFI faculty, staff and students; Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI) has achieved very great and encouraging achievements on scientific research, education and management. Look back ten typical achievements of HUFI in 2020 for congratulation.
1.HUFI Library - the champion of “Most Favourite Library 2020”
HUFI Library is notable for its 4-floor building and modern learning commons. The building where can seat more than 700 library users aims to inspire students and lecturers in their studying and research.
Overcoming more than 200 many teams from universities and colleges, HUFI Library became the champion of “Most Favourite Library 2020” in the "Best University Library" competition held from July 20th to August 18th, 2020 by Top Students with the sponsorship from Youth Development Fund (FYE).
The prize included one Champion Cup, ten benches with HUFI logo and 300 books from Alpha Books, a sponsor of the competition that can serve useful references for HUFI students.

2. Ministry of Industry and Trade‘s Emulation Flag of "Excellent Unit in the Educational Emulation Movement in the academic year 2019-2020"
On November 27, 2020, Ministry of Industry and Trade held a conference on the academic year 2019-2020 educational and training Report and the academic year 2020-2021 Statement of mission. HUFI had the honour to receive Ministry of Industry and Trade‘s Emulation Flag of “Excellent Unit in the Educational Emulation Movement in the academic year 2019-2020”. The academic year 2019-2020 was a very difficult year because of Covid-19 pandemic affection. However, HUFI staffs, lecturers and students focused on overcoming difficulties to complete their tasks and achieving many significant achievements.

3. Top 30 of Vietnam higher institution with international publication
Up to April 2020, the total number of publications from Vietnam reached 12,307 of several types. In particular, the number of publications owned by Vietnamese higher educations accounted for 90.3%, corresponding to 11,118 publications. The rest came from hospitals, independent research institutions, companies, colleges, and a handful of high schools.
Among top 50 higher educational institutions with the highest publication productivity (Table 1), HUFI went up to the 26th rank with 120 publications. This was HUFI’s great effort in scientific research and global integration process. By the time the data was last updated, the total number of citations in all publications from Vietnam reached 16,211, 88.6% of which came from the aforementioned 50 higher education institutions, corresponding to 14,357 times. Among top 50 higher educational institutions, HUFI was ranked at the 24th of citations from publications expressing its remarkable value in international publication (Table 2).

4. Seven Training Programs met with MOET standards
In the last decade in Vietnam, there has been increasing focus in regional and international economic integration, in which, the education sector is prioritized. Catching up this trend, HUFI performed some research activities, quality assurance at institution level based on the Circular 38/2013/TT-BGDĐT of Ministry of Education and Training on process and frequency of quality assessment of training programs of universities, colleges and junior colleges.
After the completion of self-assessment, HUFI moved forward with application for accreditation at institution level and has been accreditated at the institutional level by the Center for Educational Accreditation - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. On July 24, 2020, HUFI held a ceremony to announce the Decisions of awarding of education quality certificates at bachelor level of seven majors: Food Safety and Quality Management, Biology, Accounting, Environmental Engineering Technology, Business Administration, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, Information Technology.

5. Ministry Level Student Scientific Research Awards
Student scientific research activities have got many remarkable awards contributing on HUFI achievements in 2020. On November 27, 2020, Ministry of Education and Training held an award ceremony of Scientific Research Students in 2020. The HUFI student groups excellently won one Second prize and two Third prizes.
In addition, on November 28, the ceremony of Euréka Scientific Research Students Awards took place at the Youth Cultural House of Ho Chi Minh City. Overcoming 1000 topics from 111 universities, colleges and institutes in Vietnam, the group of two HUFI students was honoured to receive two Consolation prizes.

6. HUFI’s prevention and response to the COVID-19 pandemic
Because of the complicated spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City, HUFI has actively performed some preventive methods in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that the activities of learning, teaching and stable material life of HUFI staffs could been taken normally as well as actively supported students in overcoming their difficulties.

8. Two Appointed Vice Presidents of HUFI
On June 30, 2020, HUFI formally held a ceremony to announce the appointment decisions on the position of the Vice Presidents of HUFI to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hong Anh and MSc. Thai Doan Thanh.
At the ceremony, Mr. Cao Quoc Hung - Member of Personnel Commission of Communist Party, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade - delivered his congratulation and presented the responsibilities of Vice President: In the new context of higher education where some universities are running autonomy mechanism, the Vice Presidents are not only the assistants and advisers for the President, but also the leaders who dare to dream, dare to speak up, dare to act and dare to take more responsibility including in the risks and their mistakes. To have the break-out ideas, to have ideas for innovation management and to be an advisor to the President on the right and revolutionary decisions in some imminent macro-micro issues involved in HUFI.

9. All Converted Currculums according to the Law on Amendments to the Law on Higher Education
Based on the Law on Higher Education, educational training regulations, Standards for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of training curriculum, in 2020, HUFI unified the development orientation of training program meeting output standards with the following essential components: Basis for implementation; Aims and Objective; Learning outcomes at Program and Modul; Learning outcomes matrix; Admission and admission requirements; Graduation requirements and diploma; overall credits; Program framework; Modul in each semester or designed time; Type of training; Evaluation methods; Review, update and guideline; Modul Outline.

10. The Success of 2020 Enrolment Target
In 2020, HUFI strengthened HUFI majors and job opportunities on the internet communication methods or at consulting workshops in other provinces and cities. HUFI successfully finished its admission target based on four admission methods: 2020 High School Graduation Exam result, High School transcript, National High School Graduation Exam result and Direct Admission according to the regulations of Ministry of Education and Training.
