The academic year 2019-2020 had achieved very great and encouraging achievements by the efforts of all the staffs and many applied positive policies of Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI). This is the academic year when HUFI continues to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW of November 04, 2013 on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education. It is also the fourth year under implementation of autonomy mechanism and social responsibility in HUFI.
HUFI held the opening ceremony for 2019-2021 graduate course and awarded Master degree to the graduate students in 2018. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phan Xuan Cuong, Secretary of Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, President; Dr. Vo Tuyen, Vice President, representatives of HUFI units, graduate students and new master students.

In 2019-2020 admission for master course, there were eight majors including Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Electrical Engineering at a total of 273 students who are attending the course.
About the first Master course (intake 2017-2019), there were five majors including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology and Business Management at a total of 105 students, in which 59 students graduated on time (56.2%), 05 excellence graduation students. This graduation rate helped people have more firm belief in postgraduate training quality. Regarding human resource for teaching Master program, by December 2019, there are 02 professors, 14 associate professors and 89 doctorates accounted of 698 all staff (the ratio of doctor/lecturers is over 27%). Many professors, associate professors and doctors of other universities, research institutes or some leading experts of enterprises, groups are also invited to charge of postgraduate training. In addition, HUFI has built up a range of modern technology system, good university governance, comfortable teaching-learning environment. At HUFI, great efforts are always being made to ensure that all graduate students have capacity of research and qualification for degree requirements in the direction of applied research.

On his Opening remark, President Nguyen Xuan Hoan extended his greetings to 119 students admitted to the university this year, also congratulated to 59 masters who had just graduated. Particularly, among the students of the first master course, there were over half of them could graduate master program on time. This graduation rate is a clear evidence on training quality of postgraduate at HUFI. He also expressed his sympathy of their difficult learning process during past two years. At the end of his speech, he delivered his hope to all graduate students who had received master degrees to help the university in solving society problems that how to use and develop their learning effectively in their life better and enrich their knowledge.

Representing 59 graduate masters of the first course in 2019, Bui Van Tam - a valedictorian of chemical engineering major – gave a thank speech: “I would like to thank all professors who had raised up our love of study and research; Board of Managers who had paid close attention to full-equipped facilities and training quality; and our parents and friends who had encouraged our study. The postgraduate curriculums have been improved in the way of reality and application. Considering training quality, many education programs have been recognized in compliance with the education accreditation standards of the Minister of Education and Training and in the step of assessment result from ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). They were the endless efforts and strong wills of all the staffs of HUFI. They also confirmed that my decision on studying at HUFI was right”. At this ceremony, the leaders presented the orientation of HUFI development and the determination of staffs, lecturers and students in continuously improving both quality of training and student service; as well as further strengthening with the enterprises to build up a professional and modern learning environment, keeping up the track of the reality and social needs, confirming step by step the prestige and quality of training, scientific research and technology transfer. They helped to define HUFI’s position to the learners, employers. and whole society. The ceremony was successfully ended by the hope of fifty-nine new graduation masters and the self-determination of one hundred nineteen new students of the third master course.
