In an interview with Mr. Phạm Thái Sơn, M.A., Director of the Admissions and Communications Center at HUIT, insights were shared into these policies and the outstanding scientific research achievements attained by the University’s students in recent years.

1. What special financial and research support policies does Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade offer for talented students?
Mr. Phạm Thái Sơn shared that HUIT’s financial support policies are designed to encourage and provide the most favorable conditions for talented students, especially those participating in scientific research projects. In the 2022–2023 academic year, the University allocated nearly VND 900 million to student-led scientific research projects. By the 2024–2025 academic year, this amount had increased significantly to VND 1.9 billion and will continue to be expanded in the coming years.
With a long-term vision, HUIT is committed to further strengthening student support. It is projected that in the 2025–2026 academic year, funding for student scientific research will double to VND 4 billion, along with an additional VND 500 million in sponsorship from corporate partners. Looking ahead to the 2026–2030 period, the University plans to allocate more than VND 50 billion to student scientific research activities, reaffirming HUIT’s strong commitment to nurturing young talent. This investment not only creates an innovative learning and research environment, but also provides a solid foundation for students to maximize their potential and contribute to innovation within the scientific community.
2. How have the number of scientific research projects and the number of students participating in research changed over the years?
Mr. Phạm Thái Sơn noted that the University is very proud of this upward trend. In the 2022–2023 academic year, there were 76 projects with 277 participating students; in 2023–2024, there was an adjustment to 70 projects with 264 students; and by 2024–2025, the number had risen sharply to 115 projects with 487 students. These figures reflect the growing appeal of the research movement across the University. HUIT will continue to provide motivation and the best possible conditions for more students to participate, thereby enabling them to fully develop their creative potential.
3. What achievements has Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade made in international scientific publications? Does the University have plans to strengthen research publications in the future?
According to Mr. Phạm Thái Sơn, the University places particular emphasis on publishing students’ scientific papers in reputable domestic and international journals. In the 2022–2023 academic year, the University recorded 53 scientific papers recognized in domestic journal lists, along with 10 papers published in international journals indexed in ISI/Scopus. In the following years, the University expects to further increase the number of publications, reaching 20 international papers by the 2024–2025 academic year. This not only enhances the quality of student research but also helps HUIT affirm its position within the international scientific community.

Mr. Sơn stated that Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade always focuses on developing and retaining outstanding talent.
