As part of the Industry and Trade Awards – HUIT Awards 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade solemnly honored three exemplary units for their outstanding, comprehensive, and sustained contributions throughout 2025.
The "Unit of the Year" title not only recognizes their remarkable achievements but also reflects their sense of responsibility, spirit of innovation, and dedication to the overall development of the University. The three honored units are: the Department of Graduate Affairs, the Academic Affairs Department, and the Faculty of Information Technology.
Department of Graduate Affairs: A Strong Foundation for the Quality of Graduate Education
In 2025, the Department of Graduate Affairs continued to affirm its role as the central unit in managing the University's master's and doctoral programs. The department proactively advised on, developed, and implemented a scientific and synchronized academic plan in line with regulations, ensuring that all processes, from admissions and teaching to research activities and thesis/dissertation defenses, were conducted rigorously and on schedule.
At the same time, the Department strengthened communication for graduate programs, applied digital technology to academic administration, and implemented a shared verification system for master's and doctoral degrees. These efforts contributed to greater transparency, improved services for learners, and enhanced the reputation of HUIT's graduate education.
Sharing about the achievement, Mr. Pham Nguyen Huy Phuong, Head of the Department of Graduate Affairs, said: “The ‘Unit of the Year’ title is a meaningful recognition of the Graduate Affairs team’s spirit of dedication, responsibility, and continuous innovation. We see it not only as a source of pride but also as motivation to further improve the management of graduate education, better serve learners, and make practical contributions to the University’s academic reputation.”
Academic Affairs Department: A Pillar of Management, Innovation, and Standardization in Undergraduate Education
As the key unit in undergraduate education, the Academic Affairs Department handled a significant workload, with over 40,000 undergraduate students enrolled in 2025. Enrollment targets were achieved, and the credit-based training system was implemented while ensuring both progress and quality.
Over the past year, the Academic Affairs Department proactively standardized academic programs, assessed learning outcomes, coordinated program accreditation, opened new majors, and promoted a blended learning model combining online and in-person instruction, while achieving 100% digitization of training management records. These efforts contributed to improving graduation rates, enhancing learning outcomes, and strengthening students' adaptability to the labor market.
Sharing about the achievement, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, Deputy Head in charge of the Academic Affairs Department, emphasized: “The ‘Unit of the Year’ award is the result of close coordination between the Academic Affairs Department and the faculties, departments, and centers across the University. This achievement confirms the right direction in standardizing, digitizing, and innovating academic administration, while also motivating us to continue improving the quality of undergraduate education to meet the increasingly high demands of society.”
Faculty of Information Technology: A Driving Force for Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurship
In 2025, the Faculty of Information Technology continued to affirm its position as a dynamic unit in education and research, taking a pioneering role in innovation within the University. The Faculty strengthened its organizational structure, developed a high-quality teaching staff, and designed and implemented new academic programs oriented toward standardization and integration.
Its scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation activities achieved many notable results, with dozens of scientific publications, awards at ministerial and university levels, and recognition at prestigious academic and technology forums both domestically and internationally. In addition, the Faculty actively participated in extracurricular, cultural, and sports activities, presenting the image of a united, creative, and distinctive collective.
Representing the Faculty’s leadership, Mr. Nguyen Hong Vu, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, shared: “Being honored as ‘Unit of the Year’ is a great pride for the entire Faculty of Information Technology. This recognition reflects the solidarity, creativity, and tireless efforts of our lecturers and students in education, scientific research, and innovation. The Faculty will continue to uphold this spirit in training high-quality technology human resources and contributing to the University’s digital development strategy.”
