Sir, what significance does qualifying for the National Finals hold for the HUIT men's football team?

Head Coach Dang Duy Dong: This is a historic and deeply proud milestone for HUIT university sports. Reaching the top 16 teams nationwide demonstrates that the team's relentless dedication over the past period is being recognized, while affirming the progress of HUIT football on the national student stage. It is a well-deserved reward for the untiring, persistent efforts of both coaching staff and players throughout this campaign. To earn this ticket, the players underwent countless training sessions, intense matches, and moments of immense pressure. Every member had to persevere, remain resilient, and devote immense passion to the team. Therefore, the National Finals bring joy, pride, and strong motivation for us to push further, as HUIT's journey in this tournament is still ahead of us.

In your view, what key factors set HUIT apart during this journey?

I believe the biggest key lies in our family-like cohesion and an unyielding "warrior" mindset. HUIT may not possess individual standouts, but we have a highly unified team. The players understand each other's movements, are always ready to cover for one another, and willingly sacrifice for the common objective. Stepping onto the pitch, every player understands they are competing for the collective, for the team, and for the HUIT jersey colors.

Complementing that team spirit is a solid tactical foundation and strict discipline. The coaching staff built a playing style based on high physical endurance, proactive pressing, and strict adherence to tactical instructions. HUIT aims to project the image of a resilient, proactive squad that capitalizes on every chance, no matter how small. Furthermore, the close attention and support from University Leadership serve as a vital source of encouragement for the squad. That accompaniment provides the coaching staff and players with added faith and motivation to overcome difficult moments on the field and maintain maximum focus on our shared goals.

Looking back on the campaign, what makes you most proud of the HUIT players?

What makes me most proud is witnessing the players truly mature and grow more resilient after every final whistle. Technically and tactically, their game intelligence has improved significantly. They know how to dictate match tempo, understanding precisely when to accelerate and when to maintain defensive structure. Transitions from defense to attack have also become much smoother and sharper compared to the early stages. Psychologically, they have learned how to handle pressure. When facing strong opponents or falling behind, panic has been replaced by composure and cool heads. The players trust one another, stick to the prepared strategy, and fight until the final minutes to alter the outcome or preserve results.

I also deeply value their maturity in camaraderie. It shows in a supportive handshake when a teammate makes a mistake, words of encouragement after a missed play, or a warm embrace after every goal. I want them to play with integrity, respect for opponents, and complete dedication to the HUIT colors. To me, those are the finest values that collegiate sports can offer students.

The National Finals bring together the 16 strongest collegiate teams nationwide. How will HUIT prepare to assert its capabilities and target higher goals?

HUIT approaches the National Finals with maximum respect for every opponent, balanced by the highest determination to advance deep into the tournament. The coaching staff will thoroughly review areas needing improvement from the qualifiers, continue enhancing physical conditioning, and refine tactical options. In the Finals, each team presents distinct playing styles and strengths; therefore, HUIT must maintain flexible match strategies to adapt effectively to different opponents and match scenarios. I continuously remind the players to keep their feet on the ground. All remaining 15 teams are outstanding representatives who earned their spots through rigorous qualifiers, so HUIT respects them all. We enter the tournament with a mindset eager to learn and respectful of opponents, yet completely fearless.

Our immediate objective is to navigate each group stage match effectively. The team aims to deliver an entertaining, energetic, and attractive brand of football that embodies HUIT's identity. Having reached the national stage, we will give our utmost effort to advance as far as possible in this year's tournament.

Qualifying for the National Finals marks a memorable leap forward for HUIT men's football. For Coach Dang Duy Dong and his players, this achievement also opens an exciting new challenge. Among the 16 strongest teams nationwide, HUIT will continue carrying its "warrior" spirit, team cohesion, and ambition to write the next chapter on the national student football stage.
