Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) hosted a strategic working session involving the University, the Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, and Vietnam Solar Co., Ltd. to discuss strategic collaboration in training and human resource development in renewable energy. Notably, Vietnam Solar committed to sponsoring resources and partnering with HUIT to build a Solar Energy Training and Practice Center directly on campus.
HUIT partners with Vietnam Solar Co., Ltd. to establish a Solar Energy Training and Practice Center
Attending the session from HUIT were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan – Party Secretary and President of the University; Dr. Le Thanh Toi – Dean of the Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology; Dr. Pham Thi Xuan Hoa – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, alongside faculty lecturers. Representing Vietnam Solar Co., Ltd. were Mr. Vo Phu Huu – Managing Director; Mr. Nguyen Huynh Xuan Thanh – Advisor to the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Anh Le – Head of Technical Department, together with corporate officers and technical experts.
Amid the global energy transition and Vietnam's sustainable development trends, the demand for highly skilled human resources equipped with solid theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in solar PV systems and energy storage technologies has become increasingly urgent. Recognizing this imperative, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Solar Co., Ltd. agreed to collaborate on establishing the "Solar Energy Training and Practice Center" directly on the HUIT campus.
Speaking at the meeting, HUIT representative Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, Party Secretary and President of the University, expressed sincere gratitude for Vietnam Solar's partnership. He emphasized that the Center will not only help students in the Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice, but also support long-term goals to gradually transform the facility into a leading hub for training, research, technology transfer, and industry connectivity in renewable energy across Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region.
A key highlight of this partnership model is its emphasis on practical training aligned with real-world corporate requirements. Students will gain hands-on experience with On-grid, Hybrid, and Off-grid solar systems, as well as energy storage technologies ranging from basic to advanced levels.
Specifically, the practical curriculum is designed to encompass the complete engineering lifecycle—from site surveying, system calculation, and design to installation, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Through this hands-on approach, classroom instruction is directly linked with the practical competencies required of engineers in the renewable energy sector.
Furthermore, the collaboration broadens student exposure to technologies from leading brands within the global renewable energy ecosystem, including AIKO, Risen Energy, Canadian Solar, Panasonic, FIMER, Hoymiles, Sigenergy, BYD, AlphaESS, and Anker SOLIX. Specialized seminars led by industry experts will provide students with opportunities to stay updated on emerging technologies and market trends.
The working session laid a solid foundation for the upcoming signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the future operational launch of the Solar Energy Training and Practice Center.
Direct corporate investment in university practical training marks a crucial milestone in aligning higher education with labor market needs. Guided by an action-oriented learning approach that integrates academic training with industry partnerships and technology, the collaboration between HUIT and Vietnam Solar is expected to foster a modern learning environment, enabling students to proactively master emerging technologies, enhance professional skills, and readily join the rapidly expanding renewable energy workforce.
