In the dynamic flow of higher education innovation, science and technology are not only a measure of academic capacity but also the "core driving force" enabling universities to create value for the community and society. On January 10, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) held a Conference to Review Science and Technology Activities for the 2024-2025 academic year. The event aimed to review the research and creative achievements of its lecturers and students, recognize outstanding accomplishments, and outline strategic directions for the development of scientific research and technology transfer in the coming period.

 

Attending the conference were distinguished guests and university leaders. Representing the invited guests was Mr. Doan Kim Thanh, Director of the Youth Science and Technology Development Center. From HUIT, the attendees included Meritorious Teacher, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan – Secretary of the Party Committee and University President; Dr. Phan Xuan Cuong – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Dr. Bui Hong Dang – Editor-in-Chief of the HUIT Scientific Journal; along with deans and deputy deans of faculties, authors of notable research projects, and representatives of lecturers and students from across the university's departments.

 

Conducted in a focused spirit, the conference addressed key agenda items: a review of Science and Technology Activities for 2024-2025, development orientations for the 2025-2026 period, guidance from the university leadership, and an awards ceremony to honor high-achieving collectives and individuals.

 

The conference opened with attendees watching a summary video, which highlighted significant milestones. It reflected the serious research ethos, persistent efforts in scientific publication, and the proactive engagement of both faculty and students at HUIT in science and technology activities over the past academic year.

 

Specific achievements included a diverse portfolio of research projects: 02 international projects, 04 ministry-level projects, 13 provincial/city-level projects, and 48 university-level projects for lecturers. The publication output showed a remarkable leap, with 837 articles published, including 318 international and 519 domestic publications, clearly demonstrating efforts to enhance both the volume and quality of research.

 

Concurrently, activities linking research with practical application continued to be promoted. The university executed 21 consultancy and technology transfer contracts with a total value of 9.84 billion VND.

 

Regarding the student body, the research movement gained strong momentum with 115 university-level scientific research projects and 144 scientific articles published by students (including 25 international and 119 domestic publications). Notably, innovation and intellectual property activities marked significant progress as the University supported the filing of 22 new patent applications and 1 trademark, while 1 patent was granted during the academic year. These figures and results vividly illustrate the spirit of serious research, persistent effort in scientific publication, and the proactive stance of both faculty and students in their journey to elevate academic standing and increase applied value for society.

Following this, Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan delivered a guiding speech and launched the emulation movement for scientific research for the 2025–2026 academic year. In his address, the President emphasized the pivotal role of Science and Technology in enhancing training quality, academic reputation, and the University's competitiveness. He urged that research continue to be promoted in a practical direction, aligned with real-world needs, and encouraged the formation of focused research groups/themes. Concurrently, the 2025–2026 emulation movement is expected to vigorously spread a research culture throughout the university, leveraging the participation of faculty and students to generate further new outcomes in scientific publication, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

 

The awards ceremony at the Conference was conducted solemnly and in accordance with established procedures, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Khuong announcing the commendation decisions for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in Science and Technology activities for the 2024–2025 academic year.

The Conference to Review Science and Technology Activities for the 2024–2025 academic year concluded on a high note. The recognized achievements and the launched emulation spirit not only mark a year of significant effort but also open expectations for a phase of even more vigorous development in Science and Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.
