Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry: The Admissions Advisory Board (SAS) Has Supported Students Since Their School YearsJanuary 11, 2021
On May 8, 2018, the HUFI Admissions Advisory Board (SAS), under the Center for Admissions and Communications, was established and has operated with the motto: “Timely Sharing – Prompt Action – Wholehearted Support.” From their first year at university until after graduation, student members of the Board have worked tirelessly under the guidance and support of the lecturers and staff of the Center.
With a young, enthusiastic, and dedicated team, SAS has developed a distinctive admissions consulting approach, offering 24/7 counseling through personal Facebook accounts, the University’s admissions fanpage, TikTok, and Zalo in order to better connect with young people. The team also actively participates in admissions events organized by newspapers and television stations. In particular, SAS has attracted many students and collaborators to join, training successive generations of members. The Board’s recruitment days for collaborators and official members are always highly popular and exciting.
In its early days, SAS had only around 30 members, all energetic and enthusiastic students who worked with the Center in admissions activities. After more than two years of development, the Board grew to more than 50 members, including 3 executive members directly responsible for leadership and management, 30 regular members, and around 20 collaborators providing additional support. Sharing her thoughts, Phuong Giang, former Head of the Board, said: “So many students registered to join that the Executive Board and sub-team leaders had to conduct interviews and select those with the right skills and professional manner so that we could continue to grow together.”
Each year, when students enter their internship period or begin working on course projects and graduation theses, third-year students are no longer able to participate regularly in the Board’s activities, as they need to focus on their studies and completing their programs. Even so, they still make efforts to return and pass on their admissions consulting experience to first- and second-year students. As a result, generations of members continue to support one another and the Board has operated very effectively.
In addition, the Board also participates in many other activities launched by the University and the Youth Union, such as the Green Summer Campaign, graduation ceremonies, Youth Union and Student Association movements, as well as programs organized by student clubs to foster connection, exchange, and mutual learning. All members are trained in the 5S process, contract and document drafting, professional working style, and are encouraged to organize recreational programs for commemorative occasions and outdoor activities after admissions campaigns. Through these activities, students gain many useful skills and valuable experiences.
“Although I have only been a member of SAS for just over a year, I have truly felt that the teachers and staff in the Center are extremely friendly, enthusiastic, and always willing to guide us in many ways—from how to reply to messages, how to advise high school students, to how to work effectively in an office environment. At the same time, the senior members of the Executive Board are also very dynamic and passionate; they organize many meaningful and enjoyable activities, which make me feel that the Admissions Advisory Board is like my second home—full of laughter and a place where I can learn so much. There are joys and there are challenges, but I am still very proud to be a small part of the SAS family.”That was the reflection of Nhu Ngoc (student of class 10DHNH1) after more than one year of participation in SAS activities.
Since its establishment, the HUFI Admissions Advisory Board (SAS) has achieved many accomplishments and received much praise from lecturers, students, and freshmen. The dynamism, enthusiasm, sense of responsibility, dedication, and willingness to learn shown by its members have built strong trust among new students whenever they seek support on issues related to the University. The professionalism and growth of SAS have also made a meaningful contribution to the overall development of the Center for Admissions and Communications.
